Melissa Scissons
Registered Massage Therapist

I am an Algonquin College Massage Therapy honours graduate with experience working at a sports injury clinic. Additionally, while studying Massage Therapy I worked as a rehab assistant where I applied various modalities and developed exercise programs. Then, I proceeded to work as a field medical personnel for OPDL soccer (Ontario player development league). I have accumulated experience working with varsity athletes, acute injuries and chronic pain patients. I have completed continuing education certificates in Athletic Movement Assessments (lower extremity) and Myofascial Cupping Therapy.

My treatments commonly consist of decreasing muscle tension, deep tissue massage, decreasing fascial restrictions, trigger point therapy, addressing muscular imbalances and passive or PNF stretching. I’m a big believer in educating my clients on what I am doing and why I am doing it. Allowing you to better understand what’s going on with your body and how you can help yourself not only recover but, prevent future injuries too.

I am a varsity soccer alumni, I enjoy staying active by working out. I’ve also played volleyball, basketball and rugby growing up and love to keep up with these sports recreationally. I have always had a passion for sports and find that this has allowed me to share a personal connection with my clients in regards to sport performance, injury recovery and injury prevention.
